Mordvinian Mythology is the first volume in the new book Series Studia mythologica Slavica - Supplementa, presenting the mythology and flok traditions of the Mordvinians, the Fino-Ugric ethnos living throughout the territory of the Russian Federation. This is the first encyclopaedic presentation of mythological concepts of the Mordvinians, the Fino-Ugric ethnos living in the territory of the Russian Federation. Examined are different aspects of the process of transformation of old customs, and beliefs into modern practices where tradition blends with new, contemporary elements from different milieus.

The authoress

Tatyana Petrovna Devyatkina is Professor, Doctor of Philology at Saransk Cooperative Institute of Moscow Consumer's Cooperative University in Saransk, a member of The Folklore Fellows at Finnish Academy of Science and Letters, honorable scholar of the Mordovian Republic (Russia) researching on the traditional and moderm culture of Mordva specialy marriage rites, songs, folk signs and mythology in the Finno-Ugric context. Her works have been published in many countries such as Russia, Estonia, Hungary, Sweden, Finland, Canada, USA. She has also taken part in a number of international conferences, congresses symposiums dedicated to the Finno-Ugric and universal culture.
